Class Structure

Classes are divided into four areas of focus: Enrichment, Voice, Dance and Acting. Class begins with breathing and vocal exercises, giving instruction in how to use muscles and body parts to develop the individual’s own very best singing and speaking voice.

The bulk of each class consists of acting exercises to encourage confidence and develop the following skills:

▪ Focus

▪ Characterization

▪ Improvisation

▪ Motivation

▪ Facial expression

▪ Vocal intonation

Dialogue

The final portion of class is spent rehearsing for the play performance. We hope that through mastery of the basics, our students’ abilities  to create their own artistic compositions will be enhanced and strengthened.

Live Performances

Productions are performed live to give our actors experience in overcoming stage fright and the  opportunity to perform for an appreciative audience.

Rehearsal Music and Scripts

Students can sing, dance, and practice their lines at home with scripts and music for each show.  In fact, home practice is encouraged as it gives the important adults in our students’ lives an  opportunity to get involved in the Little Star Acting Company experience. Receiving support outside of class helps to grow our students’ confidence in their unique abilities. The cost of these supplies is covered by the registration fee.

Meet the teachers!

Ms. Alissa

Alissa has over 20 years of acting experience. Her love of performing started at age 7 when she joined a children’s theatre group in Utah. From there, she immersed herself in the performing world: acting both on stage and in film. She trained vocally for 12 years and sang at events across the state including performing the National Anthem at the raceways for over 5000 people. She received her BA in Arts Administration with a theatre focus from Westminster College. After graduating, she moved to Los Angeles. For 9 years, she auditioned, acted, and trained at many locations, including the prestigious Playhouse West and UCB improv. Alissa moved to Vero Beach to raise her family with her husband and is excited to provide this wonderful experience to kids across Indian River County.

Ms. Whitney

Whitney has worked as an actress, writer, and filmmaker for over 15 years. She studied at The Ohio State University and lived in LA for 11 years working in film and television. She studied at Margie Haber Studios and the Bramon-Garcia Braun Studio. She directed and produced the short film 'Bernice' which was accepted to the California Women's Film Festival and the 2023 Vero Beach Film Festival. Whitney lives with her husband and four children in Vero Beach and is so excited to help other children find their love for the performing arts.
