Philoshopy and Class Structure:
In my teaching practice, I emphasize a collaborative approach where students actively participate in the selection of songs that resonate with them. This process not only empowers them to take ownership of their learning but also fosters a deeper connection to the material. Once a song is chosen, we dedicate our lessons to refining both the technical aspects and the performance elements of that piece.
Each lesson is structured to maximize our time effectively, beginning with 15 minutes of warm-ups designed to prepare both the mind and body for musical expression. These warm-ups are tailored to enhance vocal or instrumental agility, ensuring that students are in the best possible state to tackle the nuances of their chosen piece.
Following that, we spend another 15 minutes focused specifically on technique related to the selected song. This targeted approach allows students to integrate technical skills with artistic interpretation, helping them to bring the piece to life while developing their musical abilities.
By balancing technique and expression, my goal is not just to prepare students for a performance, but to instill a sense of confidence and joy in their musical journey. I believe that through this process, students not only refine their skills but also cultivate their unique musical voices, connecting deeply with the language of music that speaks to their souls.
I believe that each individual possesses a unique musical potential that deserves to be nurtured and developed. My philosophy of teaching centers on the idea that every person has an innate ability to connect with music, which serves as a profound language of the soul. Through music, we communicate emotions and experiences that transcend words, allowing us to express our innermost feelings in ways that are deeply personal yet universally understood.
In my teaching, I strive to create a supportive environment where students feel empowered to explore their musicality. I emphasize the importance of recognizing and celebrating each student’s individuality, encouraging them to discover their unique voice within the vast realm of music.
I hope to inspire my students to see music as a lifelong companion - a means of understanding themselves and connecting with others. In this way, my teaching philosophy embraces the transformative power of music, cultivating not only skilled musicians but also thoughtful and empathetic individuals who contribute meaningfully to the world around them.
