Collection: Clothes that Calm - Emotional Regulation Clothing

Emotional Regulation Clothing: A Calming Tool for Kids with Anxiety, Autism, ADHD, ODD, and Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD)

Being a kid today isn’t always easy - especially for those navigating mental health challenges or neurodiversity. Children with anxiety, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), ADHD, Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD), and Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD) often experience the world in heightened or overwhelming ways. That's why we believe in providing everyday tools that support emotional regulation and mental wellness.

Emotional regulation clothing is a unique and powerful support tool. Our specially designed apparel is more than just comfortable - it’s functional. The featured “Relax” star design is a gentle, visual reminder for children to pause, breathe deeply, count slowly, and reconnect with their bodies when emotions feel too big.

Why It Works:

  • Visual prompts: The "Relax" star acts as a grounding cue to practice calming strategies

  • Promotes self-regulation: Encourages independence in managing stress and big feelings

  • Increases focus and comfort: Especially helpful for children in classrooms or group settings

Who Benefits:

  • Children with sensory sensitivities who may be overwhelmed by textures or tight clothing

  • Kids managing daily anxiety who benefit from tactile or visual comfort cues

  • Children with ADHD or ODD who may struggle with impulse control or frustration tolerance

  • Neurodivergent kids on the autism spectrum, who thrive with visual structure and calming rituals

We take children’s mental health seriously and aim to empower them through simple, meaningful supports they can use every day. Whether at school, home, or out in the community, this clothing is a wearable reminder: You are safe. You are supported. You’ve got this.

Start by having the child inhale at each point of the star and exhale tracing to the next point. The aim is to have the child exhale twice as long as they inhale to calm the sympathetic nervous system (fight, flight, or freeze.)

The next step is to count the numbers 1-5 and then backward 5-1. Counting can help to distract from anxious thoughts. Counting can also help the brain go from the emotional to logical state.

Encourage the child to use the opposite hand of where the star is placed (if the star is on the right side use the left hand to trace or point to the numbers). Crossing the midline of the body helps to strengthen both sides of the brain working together. A bilateral integrative connection can help to verbally (left brain) express your feelings (right brain) and hopefully regulate.

If the star design doesn't quite do the trick your child can count the designs on the clothes or even trace them.
